Prof. Targino graduated with MSc degrees in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 1998 and Stockholm University (Sweden) in 2002, and received a PhD degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography from Stockholm University in 2005. In 2005 he was a visiting scholar at the Univeristy of Helsinki (Finland).

He worked as a Postdoc scholar at the University of York (United Kingdom) in 2006 and at the University of Manchester (UK) between 2007-2009. He moved to Brazil in 2009 where he’s been attaining tenure at Federal Technology University (campus Londrina).

He has participated in many international chamber and field observations, both on ground and airborne platforms, including campaigns in the Arctic, Antarctica, western Africa and Europe.

His current research interests include investigation of air quality in regions affected by transboundary pollution and studies on the development of heat island on urban conglomerates.
